Looking forward and looking back {with old pics!}

By Shannen Espelien 2 Comments

As I sit here, Care Bear is looking online for work. What a reality check. How did my chunky little toddler turn into a teen nearly ready for the working world?

She’s not 14 quiet yet, but she is literally counting down the days. 14 only seems like a milestone because it’s the official age one can start working, albeit at a limited number of places. While I reassure her she does not need to start working, she knows there are only so many fencing competitions she can go to on our paycheck. She wants more. Buying her a car in a few years isn’t even on our radar, but it is on hers.

I’m not fond of the idea of her working for a number of reasons. I don’t want her exposed to the sexual harassment that can happen in the workplace, I don’t want her to lose focus in her studies, and I simply don’t want her to be gone even more often than she is.

So, while I wish to perfect her environment for the years to come (and realize that’s not possible), I look back on some perfect moments we captured in years past.

Making friends early
Playing with leaves
She was such a chunky toddler!
In my first car
Her super star smile
At my dad’s wedding
Super short hair!
Friends again!
She loved showing off her missing teeth
Cute glasses!
At my wedding, mashaAllah
And here we are today
