Alhamdulilah! After much preparation and hard work studying, Care Bear passed her first Credit by Examination exam, earning her three credits at thousands of participating colleges!
Free-clep-prep.com rates the DSST Astronomy test a 3 out of 5 in terms of difficulty, and given that Care Bear took a semester of Astronomy (though at a middle school level) last year in her co-op science class, it seemed a pretty good test to start out with. She used all the links on the free-clep-prep.com website’s study guide, the practice exams, and the practice tests on clepprep.tripod.com. In the end, she was getting about 80% on her practice exams and passed with a 54 (48 was the required passing score). She squeaked by, and in sha Allah that’s a little bit of a lesson for her in how challenging these exams are.
So, to celebrate her success, I made peanut butter brownie bites! Little Miss joined in to help make them, and the whole family enjoyed them! It was hard to keep our hands off of them so Care Bear would get her fair share!
Little Miss helped me stir together the batter
and of course we had to lick the batter off the spoon!
but the spoon was not enough to satisfy Little Miss…
And here’s what all the fuss was about. Sweets can be a great motivator! I hope they work to motivate Care Bear for the next exam!
If anyone knows the source of this recipe, please let me know so I can give due credit. They were very yummy!
Peanut Butter Brownie Bites1 box of your favorite brownie mix
1/2- 1- cup peanut butter chips
1/2-1- cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray AND grease 40 mini-muffin cups.
Prepare boxed brownie mix as directed. Spoon batter evenly into mini muffin cups ( 1/2 to 1 heaping teaspoon). Bake for 13-15 minutes or until top is set and a toothpick inserted into center comes out slightly wet. After brownies are out of the oven, wait for centers to fall. This will happen upon cooling. If not then tap the centers with the back of a teaspoon to make a hole for the peanut butter.
Place peanut butter in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 35 seconds then stir. While brownies are still warm spoon about half a teaspoon of peanut butter into the center of each brownie. Top with semi-sweet chocolate chips and peanut butter chips. Cool completely in pan. Go around edge of brownies with a sharp knife and they should pop right out.
