Fall Activity and Fall Nature Study Round Up

By Shannen Espelien 3 Comments

How are you teaching your kids about the changing seasons? I've gathered dozens of resources in this Fall Activites/Fall Nature Study round up! Get outside and learn with nature study, art, science, and much more! - www.MiddleWayMom.com

Autumn is my favorite time of year as the hot and humid days are coming to a close, the trees and plants change color, and it’s cool enough to wear a hooded sweater some days. Besides being perfect hijabi weather, it’s a point when you know you’ll be cooped up in your home for a few months, so there’s a last hurrah to get the kids outside as much as possible.

I wanted to find some ideas for our family during this season, so I asked some fellow bloggers for their links, and they definitely delivered! If you’ve wanted to share this season with your kids, here is a fantastic list of ideas to get you outside for fantastic fall activities.

Links marked with ** are also appropriate for toddlers/preschoolers

**Leaf Identification Cards – What a fun and easy way to make a nature walk more interesting! When kids are young, nature study is mostly about nurturing observant children, and matching with cards they have on hand is a great way to get them looking around, and even better, looking at the finer details.

**Toddler and Preschool Nature Study – We love the printable Eye Spy cards, and have printed the Fall cards for this season. Aamina even likes to have them in the car so we can take them wherever we go.

**Free Printable Flashcards: Leaf Identification Set – More leaf identification cards! Check these out also to get exactly what you want.

**DIY Leaf Pennant – Another step by step article, and you can use the same leaves from the rubbing activity to do the pennant, this time involving even the very young children.

This is a wonderful fall round up! Fall is too short here… I’ll have to start implementing some of these as soon as possible. Pinning.
