Prepping for Astronomy Test, and Mega Blocks Learning

By Shannen Espelien Leave a Comment

I’ve been feeling pretty blah about involved Little Miss in activities lately. As I’ve mentioned a few times, the mental and physical fatigue is taking its toll and less is getting done as each day passes. I’m expecting to take at least a week off from doing school after the baby is born, in sha Allah, so we are trying to keep trucking along until that time, regardless of how I feel that day.

Mega BlocksI’m looking forward to Little Miss having a sibling her age that is here all the time, and can play at her level more often. Kids learn a lot while playing and it always surprises me when I see this in action. I have been mentioning colors in our every day life, but she didn’t show any comprehension until we were coloring and I asked her to get me a red crayon. She actually dug through the crayons just to find a red one! Yesterday while playing with Mega Blocks I was again talking about colors, and what is “on top” and “next”. What surprised me was when we were putting the blocks back in their bag, Little Miss was very intentional that only Mega Blocks went in the bag and not other types of toys. We’ve never really discussed sorting, yet she has a clue to it all on her own! Children really are amazing, mashaAllah.

Care Bear has been prepping for the Astronomy DSST for what feels like a really long time. Alhamdulilah though, she is making real progress. The last time she took the practice exam, she got 82%. 50% is a passing score on the real test, and free-clep-prep.com recommends getting a 75% or higher on the practice exam before trying for the real thing. It seems like it is near time to make the appointment for her to take the real test. I’m wondering if I may be more nervous for this test than she is!

*ahh* I suppose we’ve been doing stuff after all, so I shouldn’t be so concerned about our progress. I wouldn’t be a mom if I didn’t worry though, aye?
